Traveling Home: Bald Knob Wildlife Refuge: Bald Knob, Arkansas

This is a quick update from the road.  Traveling and working at the same time present challenges and rewards.  The challenge is stopping absolutely all endeavors to explore the world, the minute the phone rings.  Although, from a different perspective, the fact that the work phone rings in and of itself is a huge blessing, because it means I get to live the dream of traveling and working.  Monday through Friday, customers come first! Always! This morning we did an early drive through at Bald Knob Wildlife Refuge.  There were a few photo opportunities, but it is not high on my list of places I have been.  I suppose that is because having lived near the coast for so long, I have already seen many, many water birds.  Now, had I seen a Bald Eagle we would be talking a different update :) In any event, I hope you enjoy the few pictures below (I have typed little labels below each picture):

THIS IS AN INTERESTING UNKNOWN BIRD AT THIS TIME

Lotus Flowers

I think this is some kind of water purslane, but not sure.

These photos are Wild Hibiscus - I did get some seed to bring home and try.

I did not realize until after taking the picture, that I caught the bug that was eating it in the shot as well.

I think this may be some kind of Spiderwort.  It does look similar to the Spiderwort that grows on our property, but I was surprised to see it clustered by water.

The roads within the park were really nice to drive on

You might THINK it's Ragweed

In our latest herbal class with a lovely Native American Indian woman, I learned a wonderful piece of information, Goldenrod can be a phenomenal alternative to pharmaceutical drugs for depression, among many other wonderful things this herb can do for you.

Lots of people think that Goldenrod is Ragweed - they both bloom at the same time and look similar in appearance.

So, I'm highlighting Goldenrod today in my blog.  The article referenced below says everything way better than a novice such as myself can do.

https://theherbalacademy.com/health-benefits-of-goldenrod/

It is currently starting to bloom in South Central Oklahoma and I suspect Texas as well.  Go out and pick your weeds! God made them for you! If you'd like information on how to make a tincture to use, just let me know :)

Here is our photo from our Sunday drive.

Give me the Sunshine

With the ever increasing dislike I have for Facebook on so many levels, over the next few weeks I will be transitioning away from FB and to a blog with a website.  It will be a work in progress, but please be patient with me.  If I've sent you an invite to my blog then you are valuable to my world and I hope you will accept it.

What I anticipate doing in the beginning is just posting a blog and then sharing that post over to FB. I am aiming to not sign in to FB anymore, which will happen over time, as I sort out the kinks in the blogging world.  I'm finding that I need to secure my mental world a little more. I don't want to get lost in the posts (and not to mention the ads) that people make about things I'm inclined to spend too much time reading.  Half of it upsets me or sends my blood pressure up anyway, which is not conducive to healthy living.  This is sort of a purging of junk from my mental world, much like spring cleaning a home and getting rid of a lot of stuff.

I hope you will continue to share the goings on in your world with me as well via the comments section; where you will be able to post pictures, stories about your day and links to things you think I'll enjoy.
